OVERALL APPEARANCE: Sage is a slim girl and most people would say that she has an average height. She has very slender arms and strong legs due to her preference of flight over fight. Although Sage spends most of her time outside, her skin is relatively pale. She normally keeps her straight hair loose, but on warm days she may pull the blonde and pink strands into a messy ponytail. Throughout her life, Sage has been told that her eyes look like storm clouds with their grey-blue color. Her nails are normally short with pieces of dirt lodged under them. She tries to bathe as often as possible, but it is not uncommon for Sage to have a streak of dirt across her cheekbone or coating her hands.
Sage chooses her clothing based on comfort, not appearance. She normally wears dark greens and browns in order to blend into the small bushes and forests that she spends most of her time in. Sage can normally be seen wearing her trusty pair of converse shoes and a small heart shaped locket that her best friend Bolt bought for her just before the zombies appeared. Although Sage does not mind dirt on her clothes, she constantly washes the locket so that it remains shiny and dirt free. Besides the locket, Sage avoids wearing jewelry or other accessories because they simply weigh her down.
One of Sage's identifying features is her tattoo. Just before the zombies appeared, Sage had a lightening bolt tattooed onto the back of her neck. She also has two piercings on each of her ears from her sixteenth birthday. Although Sage avoids extra jewelry at all costs, she normally keeps small studs in her ears so that the piercings do not close. Finally, Sage has a long, ragged scar across her back. The pink scar travels from Sage's left shoulder, across her back, to her right hip. Before the zombies arrived, Sage was extremely self conscious about her scar and would work hard to cover the ugly mark. Recently, however, she has not given the scar a second thought and she no longer tries to cover it up.

It was not until one day when Luke almost killed her that Sage went to Bolt for help.
- Sage's biggest secret is that she was in love with Bolt. While Bolt only saw Sage as a little sister and best friend, she felt much more for him. Bolt was her first and only love. She vowed that should would never let someone affect her so much again because in the end they would either betray her or die. Sage never told Bolt how she felt because she was too afraid that he would abandon her if he knew.
FEARS:
- Death- Sage has been afraid of death since she can remember. The thought of loosing someone she cares about is almost too painful for her. She is also afraid of her own death and has a strong survival instinct. Memories of her parents death and Bolt's death as well as thoughts about her own death haunt Sage's nightmares.
- Betrayal- Sage is almost paranoid about being betrayed. She does not like to trust others easily because of her fear that a person will only hurt her in the end. QUIRKS:
- Sage loves ketchup, but she cannot stand tomatoes. Even the thought of eating a tomato makes her gag.
- She loves the smell of grass at dawn. Sage cannot truly describe it, but she loves the smell of grass when dew still clings to the blades and the sun is just about to rise.
HABITS:
- Whenever Sage is nervous or upset, she has the tendency to chew on her finger nails.
- When she is upset or angry, Sage will curl her hands into fists and squeeze them until she calms down. Because she bites her fingernails, Sage's fingernails are jagged and occasionally break the skin of her palms when she does this.
OVERALL PERSONALITY: A stranger's first impression of Sage would be that she is cold. She prefers not to let strangers see past her cold and indifferent exterior. Sage avoids people at all cost. When she does run across a person, she is immediately on the defensive, waiting for them to try and hurt her. She can be very sarcastic and stubborn at first as well as a bit rude and blunt. Once a person wiggles through her cold outer shell, however, they will discover that Sage is a softy at heart. She is extremely loyal to every she cares about and will stand by their side through thick and thin. Sage is very cautious, however, about who she gets close to. She believes that there is no point in making friends or becoming attach to anyone because people will always either betray you or die and leave you alone.
Sage secretly loves to laugh and tease her friends. She hates thinking about the future for fear of what it may bring. She tries not to stay in one place for too long and she is always watching her back. It is very hard for someone to sneak up on Sage because she has trained herself to be extremely observant. If she has a choice of fight or flight, Sage prefers flight due to her natural speed. If she must fight, however, Sage will do whatever is necessary to survive, even if that means killing the other person. Sage normally stays up late to stare at the stars and wakes up early to enjoy the smell of dew on grass. She tries not to get too attached to material goods because they are just thing. The only item that has any real significance to her is the hear shaped locket that is always around her neck.
Sage is not as self conscious about her scar as she was before the zombies appeared, but she will avoid mentioning it at all costs. She has a soft part for those who are vulnerable and will occasionally go out of her way to help someone who is in need. These random acts of kindness, however, are normally done in a way that the person does not see her. Sage has a short temper and is not afraid to punch a person who is twice her size if they anger her. She will argue with anyone who tries to prove her wrong or tell her what to do, even if deep down she knows that they are correct. Sometimes when she is stuck in one area because of a storm, Sage will pull out a small sketch book and pencil. She loves to draw and sing to herself, but not in front of others.
Sage hates anyone who tries to lie to her or comes across as spoiled or egotistical. Although Sage prefers to avoid people, she is very curious and if someone catches her attention, she might follow them for a length of time. Sage hates feeling weak and refuses to accept help from others unless it is a life or death situation. Because of her short temper and stubborn nature, Sage can occasionally bite off more than she can chew. She is good at thinking on her feet, however, and can normally talk her way out of trouble or simply run away. Sage loves to lay out in a patch of sunlight and she always feels happier during the summer. During the winter or a rain storm, however, Sage can be extremely irritable.
While a stranger may only see Sage as a cold, sarcastic, and stubborn girl, she can be extremely loyal, kind, and protective over the select few of people who make their way into her heart.

COMPLETE HISTORY: Sage born on November 23rd in the year 1996 to Debra and Thomas Lockert. She had a fairly normal childhood. Her family lived in a small suburb where she would go to preschool each day. Her mother commuted into New York City while her father worked in the local Animal Hospital. Although all toddlers are fairly friendly, Sage was one of the friendliest. After simply waving to another child, she would assume they were now best friends. This simple lifestyle did no last long. For Christmas in 2000, when Sage was four years old, the family had visited her grandmother in Philadelphia. The day after Christmas, the family packed up their car and started driving home. They were only halfway back to New York when it began to rain. While Thomas and Debra murmured quietly about how strong the storm was becoming, Sage was busy in the back seat playing with her new Christmas gifts. Sage was not sure what happened, but within a second, the car flipped over and began rolling off of the interstate and into a small ravine. She woke up two days later to her grandmother crying next to her in a hospital room.
At the time, Sage did not fully understand what happened, but her grandmother tried to explain that a truck, blinded by the storm, swerved into her car and pushed the family off of the road. Sage was the only survivor. Both of Sage's parents were only children so Sage was sent to live with her grandmother. For the next six years, Sage grew to like Philadelphia and after the first year in the new city, she began to make new friends and return to her normal, outgoing self. Around the fifth of January, 2006, however, Sage's grandmother had a stroke. She was placed in the hospital and stayed there for about a week before dying in her sleep. Sage, heartbroken and with no living relatives, was sent back to New York to live in an orphanage close to where she was born. After loosing both of her parents and her grandmother, Sage now refused to talk to any of the other children. She would eat all of her meals alone and while the other children played video games or tag outside, Sage would sit in a corner and draw.
About a year after she arrived in the orphanage, Sage met Bolt and her life took a turn for the better. Bolt was only a year older than her, but he took it upon himself to act like her older brother. At first, Bolt tried to boss Sage around and act like her father, but he soon realized that this method would only end with him holding a back of ice to whatever part of his body Sage decided to punch that time. Within a month, however, Bolt proved that he only wanted to be Sage's friend. From then on, Sage and Bolt became in separable. It was them against the world and they felt as if they were invincible. From fighting the jocks and mocking the cheerleaders to staying out past curfew, Sage and Bolt were constantly creating chaos and enjoying every second of it. Bolt saw Sage as his best friend and little sister to tease, go on missions with, and protect. Sage, on the other hand, saw Bolt as much more than a friend. She quickly developed feelings for her best friend as they reached high school, but Sage kept these feelings to herself for fear that Bolt would reject her.
At the end of her Freshmen year of high school, Sage began dating Luke, one of Bolt's new friends. She wanted to fit in with the other girls who all seemed to have boyfriends and Bolt felt that he could trust his friend with caring for Sage. Within two months of the relationship, however, Luke began to show his true colors. He would call Sage names and mock her for being an orphan. The verbal attacks grew into physical attacks in which Luke would push Sage into walls or furniture and even choke her when he was drunk. Luke had made Sage so self conscious about herself that she felt like she could not defend herself. The thought of telling others about the abuse was also terrifying to Sage after Luke threatened to kill her and Bolt. One day, Sage was walking to a friend's house to work on a school project when Luke drove up and demanded that she get into his car. He took her to an abandoned parking lot and began forcing himself on her. Sage quickly refused and for the first time, began fighting back. She finally managed to punch Luke hard enough that he was forced to back away long enough for Sage to get away.
Sage immediately called Bolt and asked him to come pick her up. Just moments after she hung up, however, Luke found her on the corner and threatened her with a pocket knife. When Bolt arrived, he quickly pulled Luke away from Sage, but their struggle caused Luke to move his hand which contained the knife and cut Sage across her back. When sirens began to fill the otherwise quiet night, Luke fled. A woman who lived nearby had heard the fighting and quickly called the police. Sage was taken to the hospital and she had to have stitches due how deep the cut was. Bolt was hurt that Sage had not told him about the abuse sooner, but he was also guilty about the cut on her back that the doctor said would leave a scar. For the next few months, Luke harassed Sage with text messages, notes, and emails. Luckily, Bolt was about to turn eighteen and the day after his birthday, he legally adopted Sage. Bolt and Sage had always dreamed of traveling and starting their life over so they quickly used all of the money they had been saving up to buy tickets for a plane to London. While in London, Sage got a tattoo of a lightening bolt on the back of her neck while Bolt go a tattoo of a sage flower on his arm.
The day before the zombies appeared, Sage and Bolt had been walking through London when Bolt suddenly disappeared. When he returned, he held a small box and after teasing Sage that he would not let her open it until they returned to the hotel, he opened it to reveal a small, heart shaped locket. Sage quickly put the locket on and promised that she would never take it off. The next day, disaster struck. In an unfamiliar city, Sage and Bolt had to gather up a small backpack of belongings and flee the hotel they were staying at. Everywhere they turned, zombies were roaming the streets, killing people. Sage and Bolt soon found a small abandoned house on the outskirts of London. Bolt quickly took charge and decided that they would avoid going outside at all costs. Despite Sage's yelling and arguing, Bolt insisted that she would always stay in the house until they could escape back to New York. For the next week, Sage and Bolt lived in the small house, making as little sound as possible, rationing the small amount of food they had snuck out of the hotel, and simply trying to survive.
The plan worked for a couple of weeks until trouble arrived at their doorstep. One night, Sage woke up to Bolt covering her mouth and shaking her awake. He quickly whispered that he had heard someone, or something, trying to get into the house. Shoving the backpack of supplies into Sage's hands, he had ordered her to go out the back door and run. Sage immediately refused and stated that she was not going to leave him alone. At the sound of glass breaking, Bolt quickly used his strength advantage to pick Sage up and literally throw her out of the house before locking the door and barricading it. Sage screamed and cried, demanding that Bolt let her in or come with her. When she heard his screams, however, she knew it was too late. In tears, she picked up the backpack and did was he said: she ran and did not look back.
