OVERALL LOOKS| Ellie has long, chocolate brown hair that naturally hangs over her shoulders in loose and messy waves. Glossy and full of volumes, she rarely wears it in an 'up-do' and doesn't need to do much more than run a brush through it for it to do what she wants. Deliciously dark tendrils curl around an oval face of ivory skin, a few freckles (which she hates) dotted around.
Eyes of glacial blue are often framed by black mascara and eyeliner, making them the most prominent - and by far the most alluring - features on her face and always seem to harbour some sort of secret, as if she knows more than she would ever tell. Full, pale lips are often turned up in that irritatingly coy smile of hers. A real smile seldom graces her face but when it does, it is enough to brighten even the darkest of rooms.
When it comes to clothing, Ellie likes to be be edgy and unique. Her slender frame can often be found in mainly dark colours, though the odd brightly coloured shirt is not completely unheard of. She loves dresses and skirts though will never wear them below the knee. Another love of hers is knee high socks or fishnet tights. She can almost always be seen wearing one or the other and she as good as lives in her black biker boots. More often than not, she goes for comfort over fashion and is most likely to be found wearing loose fitted band tee's or anything with a quirky slogan plastered across the front. Her favourite thing to do with clothing is wear men's shirts as jackets, particularly if they are checkered.
This girl lives for accessories and is rarley found without chunky bracelets and beaded necklaces. She is also a bit of a magpie and is drawn to any item of shiny jewellery. Gold, silver white gold... Most people prefer just one, but not Ellie. From ear-rings to pretty pendants, she'll wear them all. She owns an insane amount of belts, boots and hats, though they were whisked away in the car with her brother. As far as she is concerned, you can never have too many accessories and since finding herself stranded in the streets of London, she has started a whole new collection.

OVERALL PERSONALITY|Initially, Ellie comes across as a shy and submissive character but once you get to know her you will see that there is a lot more to this youngster than meets the eye. She is quite a complex individual with a multitude of conflicting traits and the personality you receive from her is decided by the position you play in her life. A few words that would best describe this sixteen year old are:
Elusive: Hard to express or define. Cleverly or skilfully evasive – Ellie is a strange girl. She can be extremely difficult to understand and she isn’t particularly keen on letting people in. She feels that getting to know people in this kind of situation is pointless. You’re only setting yourself for further losses which will only lead to more pain. If she feels as though someone is getting too close, she dodges questions or changes the subject quickly.
Independent: Free from outside control; not depending on another’s authority – She hates being told what to do with a passion. She is more than capable of thinking and doing things for herself and that is how she likes it. She isn’t too quick to accept help from others when it is offered. She likes to feel ‘in control’.
Open-Minded: Receptive to new and different ideas or the opinions of others – Ellie may not always agree with you, but she is more than willing to consider the ideas and opinions of someone else without being too judgmental.
Adventurous: Willing to take risks or try out new methods, ideas or experiences – Upon starting secondary school, Ellie developed a taste for adrenaline rushes and as a result takes a lot of risks. Most of these risks are unnecessary but life gets so dull without a little spark every now and then, whether it be walking the rail of London Bridge, or provoking the odd zombie.
Rebellious: Showing a desire to resist authority, control or convention – Ellie does things her way. She doesn’t like being told what to do and will refuse to do anything that would cause her to be untrue to herself. Before the outbreak, she had a habit of getting into trouble, whether it was with the law or just other members of the public. Now, she still finds herself getting into trouble, just with zombies and other survivors seeing as the law is sort of redundant these days.
Reckless: Without thinking or caring about the consequences of an action – As a result of her rebellious nature Ellie can be extremely reckless, making wild and rash decisions without thinking about what may come as a result. She has a ‘Do first, think later’ attitude. It’s also a bit of a ruse. She hopes it will stop people from realising that she is actually quite vulnerable.
Intelligent: Having good understanding or a high mental capacity; quick to comprehend – Like her brother Ellie is a very bright individual, though she never really reached her full potential at school much to her teachers disappointment. She did just about enough to keep her parents off her back, but that’s not to say that she doesn’t understand things at the same level as someone else. She’s quick to pick things up, learning something new on a daily basis. And she's still alive so far so she figures she must be doing something right.
Secretive: Inclined to conceal feelings and intentions or not to disclose information – As mentioned previously, there is a lot more to this girl than meets the eye. She holds her cards close to her chest, worried that if she tells someone too much, she’s setting herself up for disappointment. Recent events have left her with a few trust issues, but if you need to get something off your chest but don’t want a bunch of people to find out, she’s your girl to rant at.
Vulnerable: Exposed to the possibility of being attacked or harmed, either physically or emotionally – Though she will never admit it, Ellie is very vulnerable. She watched her parents get attacked by zombies and her brother drove away and left her alone so I guess you could say how couldn’t she be? Her reckless behaviour is a result of her vulnerability. Though she is pretty book smart, she isn’t particularly streetwise but she’s learning.
Fiery: Characterised by intense emotion; Easily excited or emotionally volatile; tempestuous; charged with emotion; spirited – When you really get to know Ellie you realise just how much of a little firecracker she is. She can be very short tempered and waspish and can be as stubborn as a mule at times. She stands up for what she’s passionate about.

OVERALL HISTORY| Ellie May Reed was born on the twenty-fourth of September, the second child of James and Katie Reed and younger sister to Daniel Reed. As a baby, she was the complete opposite of her brother. Quiet as a mouse, she rarely cried and often slept through the night with ease. As they grew older the pair became very close – Ellie would even go as far as saying that he was her best friend – and did most things as a duo. Despite the two year age gap, they came as a package deal. That was until Daniel headed off for secondary school, leaving her to fend for herself. She became a little withdrawn after that, going from the chatty little girl that could talk for England, to the shy little girl at the back of the class. It was as if her confidence had stemmed from her older brother’s presence, now he was gone, she didn’t have a best bud until she got home from school, but Daniel now had homework.
Soon enough, Ellie made the transition to secondary school and for her, it was a clean slate. A chance for her to become her own person and really discover who she was. Though she and Daniel remained close, they drifted apart and she made a small group of her own friends as she came out of her shell again. She learned to fend for herself, becoming loud and rebellious, following her heart over her head every time much to her teachers’ disappointment. Why couldn’t she be more like her brother? At least he made an effort to learn. It wasn’t that she disliked education but ‘inheriting’ Daniel’s smarts put her ahead of her class and she found herself getting bored pretty easily and though it appeared she didn’t ever pick up a book at school, she studied hard at home, when she wasn’t climbing out of her bedroom window to parties.
Ellie was halfway through her art exam when the first signs of the outbreak began to show. The invigilator was feverish, twitchy and Ellie could have sworn she saw him dragging his nails across the desk top. She got on with her exam however until the guy dropped on the floor writhing violently. Several of her classmates tried to help whilst others crowded around until he was still. Ellie remembered hanging back uncertainly. Then came the screams of pain and the sound of ripping flesh as the invigilator ‘awoke’ to claim his prey. Ellie stood, horrified as her friends were torn apart and she had no recollection of how she got out of that classroom. She had sprinted through all the turmoil with her hands pressed tightly over her ears until she reached her home. Her family were already packing as much as they could and in no time, they were all piled into the car and heading for the streets of London.
As they pulled over to stretch their legs, Ellie called over the arguing, telling them that she was going to pee, not that she really believed that anyone had truly heard her. So off she went, finding somewhere private to do her business, with enough shelter to not be spied by any one, but open enough for her to see an escape route should she need it. Heading back in the direction of the shouts, Ellie hurriedly ducked out of site as she spotted a herd of zombies heading right for her loved ones. She screamed at them, telling them that they needed to run butt it was no use, they couldn’t hear her. And then it was too late. Her parents had been bitten and all she could do was watch in silent terror as her brother drove away, leaving her behind. She couldn’t even call out to let anyone know she was still here. Her parents were turning and they were surrounded. Daniel was lucky to have got back to the car. Ellie cried silent tears and she kept herself well hidden in the same place for several days. Even after the hoard of zombies, now complete with her parents, had dispersed, she stayed curled up, hoping, praying that Daniel would come back for her. But he never returned. After six days, she crawled out of the small space between the wall and the skip and set off on her own. She’s managed to make it this far on her own and she has no idea whether her brother made it to the Safe Lands or not but for now, she is surviving. And for the most part, that’s all that matters right now.
